Youth Food Equity Ambassador Immersion

This two week program is a deep immersion in understanding our local and global food systems. Cohorts will learn about systemic decision making (past and present) as a means to become advocates for food security within their own communities.

This program is created specifically for youth that live within communities with limited access to fresh food and/or historically underserved communities in Indianapolis.

This is a social justice based program focused on how to effectively create change in a equitable and inclusive ways for all people. They will learn about sustainable agriculture practices by touring community gardens, community organizing within the environmental justice movement and more.

Cohorts will leave with opportunities for internships/ mentorships, potential future speaking engagements with community centered organizations and policy makers. A stipend will be available upon completion.

Our goal is to ensure that cohorts will leave with a deep understanding of food systems and knowledge of how to advocate for just and equitable food systems.

This program is adapted from the 2022-2023 School Garden Liaison Initiative. It is also a part of Earth Charter Indiana’s Youth Ambassadors program.
