Danville Community middle school (new itsc cohort/ 1st outside marion county)

Wildflower Garden Sanctuary: The mission of the Danville Community School Corporation Outdoor Learning Lab is to provide students with an opportunity to actively participate in interdisciplinary studies utilizing natural woodlands, wetlands and plant study areas called the HAWK Lab (Habitat and Wildlife for Kids.)

Global Prep Academy (new itsc cohort)

Rainwater Collection & Sensory Garden: Global Prep has a large green space with fifteen garden beds near our futsal court and outdoor classroom.

Large Scale Compost Corner: GPA would utilize pallets from school deliveries to build infrastructure to expand their composting corner.

Chickens: They have moved their chicken coop and looking to bring the joys of chicken back to the school yard.

Holy Angels Catholic school

Composting: The gardening program is used to promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity in a multitude of ways. Our program promotes environmental sustainability through our composting efforts.

Zero Waste Cafeteria: To continue working toward our zero-waste cafeteria we would like to purchase reusable bowls to eliminate the use of Styrofoam bowls.

Irrigation system upgrade: Nora has 15 raised beds and 3 wheelchair accessible beds, all of which need updated irrigation to assist with watering.

Mason Bee Hives & Larva kits: Gentle mason bees are amazing pollinators and would become a valued asset to Nora's pollinator and rain gardens.

Classroom Exploration Kits: The classroom kit will contain materials and books that will encourage active engagement with the natural world.

Sustainability Curriculum: We would like to gather and develop a full scope, K- 8, sustainability curriculum. This curriculum would include student projects, science, civic responsibility, and natural world appreciation, use, and protection.

School Garden: Due to COVID-19 school closures they were not able to break ground on their garden in 2020 and shifting to this year’s cohorts to ensure their garden dreams become a reality.

Green Team Leadership Program: VCP will continue to develop the program that has 5th graders teach 4th graders how to tend to the garden.

Irrigation and Water Conservation Education: Students will design irrigation solutions to be implemented in the garden.

Sensory Pathway: Planning to make a sensory pathway through the chicken enclosure and garden space to teach students how to ground themselves, keep calm, and look forward to the future.
